Question and Answers

Q:

DCS RGS 305 Range Igniters keep sparking even after burner(s) are lit.

A:

I recommend that you have a service technician examine the range and fix that surface burner ignition circuit problem. According to your details, it sounds like you have a problem with the spark module for the surface burners (circled in red on the image below). You could have a problem with the wiring or with a switch. A bad electrode may also be causing that problem. A technician should be able to access the components and check them to determine the cause of your failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to fix this problem yourself, you can try replacing that spark module (part 211840). You can view and order parts from this page: DCS Range Model RGS-305 Parts . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

Note: Replacing the spark module may or may not fix this problem. There is a risk involved with replacing that part on your own. As noted above, a number of other failures may be causing that failure.

I don't have information for accessing that spark module on that model of range. You may be able to use the parts diagram and your personal observation of the range to access that spark module.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will try to help you further.
