Q:

horizontal bandsaw question

A:

Thank you for your question.   I am sorry you are having problems with the saw. I believe the cylinder on this unit is hydraulic. It uses jack oil in side of it. To add oil you need to remove the plug in the top of the cylinder. Then add oil to about 3/4 full. Then check the operation. If the arm does not go down slowly, the seals in the cylinder are defective. The cylinder can be rebuilt and the parts for rebuilding it can be ordered from the following link. Parts for metal band saw model 10822920.I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Richard, I looked up the parts list again. According to the parts list the cylinder and the bottom cap is one piece. I suspect it is welded or brazed. I recommend cleaning the cylinder to remove all the oil. Then clean the area with a wire brush. Once clean, you can braze the end to seal it. This should cure the leak. Just be sure not to clamp on the tube too hard. It could bend it once you heat it up. Please let me know if you get it working. It is cool to see these old tools still being used. I had an old J head mill I rebuilt and worked great. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Q:

Incorrect Mower Handle Replacement-Craftsman 917.376742

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the handle. I will be happy to assist you. Push the sides of the handle in to fit it to the mounting pins. The reason it is spread out a little is so that it stays in the locking notches in the brackets. First, put one side on the pin. Then push the other side in and place it on the other pin.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Tim,

I am glad to hear you were able to repair the mower. The manufacture will sub out some parts that work the same but look different. I agree it would be nice if it come with an instruction sheet with the part.
