Q:

Door latch broke on over stove microwave

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It would likely cost as much or more to have the door latch replaced by a service technician as it would to purchase a new over the range microwave. I added a link to Sear.com where you can shop and compare prices and features on the new over the range microwaves.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VDC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.

You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

Q:

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Model 665.1392 or 665.1394 with led's remaining on

A:

On that type of dishwasher, a problem with those lights that you are describing is normally caused by moisture (steam) getting into the inner door panel and damaging the control console and/or electronic control board. I recommend that you have a service technician examine the dishwasher and repair that type of problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to fix this problem yourself, reply to this thread with the full model number of your dishwasher and we will assist you further. That model number is normally on a sticker that is located on the side of the opening to the dishwasher tub. Sometimes it is on the side of the door.

Hello Mary. Thanks for adding that model number. In that particular model, a problem with the vent gasket in the door could be allowing moisture into the inner door panel. That would cause the problem that you are describing. I posted an image below that shows information on accessing components in that section of the dishwasher. You can shut off the house circuit breaker and open that console. If you leave it open with the house circuit breaker still shut off, that control may dry out if it was affected by moisture. You can check that gasket that is Key 6 on the parts diagram. Replacing that gasket will probably be necessary in this situation. There is a chance that you may also need to replace the control console and/or the electronic control board in that console if they do not dry out and begin working properly. You can view and order parts on this page: Kenmore HE Dishwasher Model 665.13922K010 Parts . Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher before accessing and replacing internal components. These tips may help you fix this problem on your own. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
