Ice Maker not working MZD2766GEB Maytag Side-by-side refrigerator

Thank you for choosing and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your icemaker is not working properly.

Ice maker plugged into power/Shut-off arm
• Test points L & N will verify 120 volts to
ice maker module.
(Make sure your test probes go into
the test points 1/2".)
• Test points T & H will verify if the bimetal
thermostat is open or closed.
Short T&H with an insulated piece of
wire (14 gauge) to run the motor. If the
motor doesn't run, replace the module
assembly. If the motor runs, replace the
bimetal thermostat.
If you leave the jumper in for half of a
revolution, you can feel the heater in the
mold heat up, if it is good.
Remove the jumper and the water valve
will be energized in the last half of the

Ice Maker Unplugged:
• Test points L&H will check the resistance
of the heater (72 ohms). Replace the
mold and heater assembly if not near
this value (+/- 10 ohms).
(Ejector blades should be at the end of
the cycle position.)

Your mold heater should be 185 watts, 72 ohms. If it is not then it is not working properly and will need to be replaced.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the water leaking in the fridge section. This type of problem could be with the reservoir or the water tube to the reservoir but most likely the reservoir. The reservoir is located behind the crispers. Pull the crispers out and you will see the reservoir. Now activate the dispenser and watch to see if water is leaking out of the reservoir. If the reservoir # 61003689 is leaking, it will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

I think the question is really about the fill tube behind the ice maker that brings the water into the ice 'cube' mold compartment. I think the tube has become blocked with ice, and so when the water tries to run into the ice maker, it is blocked by the ice in the tube and comes out a hole in the top of the tube instead, and runs all over the inside of the freezer. I have had this issue several times. What I do is take out the ice maker (remember to carefully disconnect the control wires behind it), and then stick a 2 cup glass measuring cup filled with hot water up to the tube. Stick the end of the tube as far down into the hot water as possible. This melts the ice in the tube so that water can flow freely again. Fortunately, the tube is flexible, seems to be able to handle very hot water, and doesn't seem to be damaged by doing this. Hope this helps somebody.
