How do I adjust the ribbon that is too high and won't type letters on my Brother typewriter model ML 100 Standard?

It is possible that the ribbon is not aligned properly. Follow the steps in the first image below to properly remove slack from the ribbon cassette. The second image shows how to check the daisy wheel. The third image provides the troubleshooting for this problem. These are excerpts from the owner's manual for your typewriter. If these tips do not help, then you likely have a component failure in the typewriter that will have to be repaired by a technician.

I added a YouTube video showing how to remove and replace the heating element . NOTE: Disconnect the power cord before servicing your dryer.
