Question and Answers

Q:

timer not working and no heat MEDC400VW0 Maytag Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on the two symptoms, the dryer is not likely getting the proper voltage supply of 220-240 volts. The heating element and the motor that causes the timer to advance both need a 220-240 volt power supply.

Locate the two house circuit breakers dedicated for the dryer and reset both circuit breakers. Flip both breakers off and on 2-3 times and then see if the dryer will heat. If it does not heat, then the voltage supply will need to be measured and confirmed at the terminal block at the back of the dryer where the power cord attaches. The voltage is measured across the two outside terminals and it must measure 220-240 volts. NOTE: I do not recommend measuring the voltage supply unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I suggest calling a service technician to verify the voltage supply. Once the dryer is supplied with the proper voltage, it will most likely heat and the timer will advance.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.
