Question and Answers

Q:

My Maytag washer's handle broke. Taking the door panel off and on stripped the screw holes on the door panel. Which part(s) need replaced?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details it sounds like you need the console/control assembly. Instead of the replacing the console assembly you could insert and glue toothpicks in stripped bosses and the break them off flush and then re-install the screws; otherwise you will need to replace the console/control panel.

If you wish to replace the control panel, the part number is 6-919822 at the approximate cost of $170.00 and you would also want to replace the vent seal #99003222.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

I own a Maytag that just had the control panel go dark. It will not operate. IU measued the voltage from the contro board to the latch switch on the latch asse

A:

The wiring diagram below shows the power supply circuit for the control board of that dishwasher traced in red and green. The board should be getting 120 volts AC. If the board is getting voltage through those wires but will not power up, then the board will need to be replaced. If it is not getting voltage through those wires, then you could have a wiring failure or a voltage supply problem. NOTE: You indicated that you have already been checking live voltage on this dishwasher. Use extreme caution when making these live voltage checks. Do not make contact with live wires or contacts when checking that voltage using a volt/ohm meter . If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to check that voltage, I recommend that you have a service technician repair the dishwasher. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

These tips should help you determine the cause of your dishwasher problem. Be sure that you shut off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher after completing any live voltage checks. If you need parts, you can order them from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
