Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my dishwasher start?

A:

I do not have enough details to indicate if there is any lights displaying or did you indicate if it will accept the "Normal Wash" cycle.

If you do not get any lights to display I recommend locating the breaker for the dishwasher electrical supply and reset the breaker and then try the dishwasher. If the dishwasher remains dead, the voltage supply to the dishwasher will need to be checked. It could have a burnt connection at the junction box behind the toe panel. There is a good possibility the control board has failed. If the dishwasher will program and light up but won't start could indicate that one of the two door switches has failed.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

Q:

Why is the lower spray arm not rotating and not cleaning the lower rack?

A:

If there is not enough water pressure developed by the wash motor impeller the lower spray will not likely spin or clean the lower rack. There is good chance that the motor shaft is stripped and causing the wash impeller to slip on the motor shaft causing a lack of water pressure to develop. There is kit to resolve this type of failure. Generally all you need to replace is the motor shaft and seal. The kit will come with instructions. The part number is 6-919539.
