Question and Answers

LER3624EQ1 LER3624EQ1

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting with your question about your Whirlpool dryer model LER3624EQ1. I am so sorry the squeaking/squealing has developed into a grinding noise. I know you want to get this fixed before the cause of the noise becomes a serious issue. I will be happy to help you with this.

There are several parts in the dryer that can wear down with use. As these parts wear, they can start slipping which can cause a squealing sound. Some examples are the belt, the rollers, the pulley and the front glide. I have included the link below for the dryer maintenance kit. It will have most of these wear parts for you. The kit saves money over buying the parts individually and comes with instructions.

The front drum seal and bearing assembly is not part of the kit. It can wear also. I have included the link for that also.

I have also included the link for our dryer repair guides. This will give you helpful tips on diagnosing the problem and also talk you through many of the possible repairs.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Repair Manual and Schematic LER3624EQ1

Thank You for choosing Sears and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your dryer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number ler3624eq1 and from your description I would also suspect that the motor is failing. Usually when a motor begins to fail it will operate perfectly for a few minutes until the motor begins to heat then stop. If you let it sit and cool for a few minutes it will work again then stop when it gets hot again. Here is a link that will help with additional troubleshooting the motor. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears

It sounds like a heating issue. It could be one of the two thermostats, thermal cut off, or the heating element. To figure witch would be the culprit you would have to access the bulkhead components from the rear panel. Using a multi meter and seeing which has a good ohm reading.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing
