Question and Answers

Why is my Sony TV standby light flashing 4 times with the power off and 7 times with the power on?

I corrected the model provided from a 36HS20 to a KV36HS20 based age of the set you gave. If I am incorrect disregard this answer and write back with a full model number.

A 4 blink code is a vertical deflection stop code and 7 is horizontal deflection stop. Obviously your vertical amp is OK and so is your horizontal output or else you would not get it to come up at times. This could be a problem with the drive for these circuits but most likely its the components themselves. A technician might be able to find a bulged cap and some poor solder to try and touch it up. If the technician is unable to find the specific component/components causing this intermittent problem then the D board will probably be tried to correct this. The D board has a p/n of A1346948A but does not seem to be currently pricing on our Sears Parts site. If you exhaust all other options and need to know the cost and availability of this part you can get this information by calling them directly at 1-800-252-1698.
