Question and Answers

freezer is cold, fridge is warm KSSS42FMX00 Kitchenaid Built-in refrigerator

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having troulbe on the refrigerator side of the refrigerator.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your model number KSSS42FMX00.  A Kitchenaide side x side.

There could be a few number of issues and you checked a few already yourself.   First is that there are 2 motors in the system.   You have one on the back side by the compressor and you have one on the freezer side.  Open the doors for a few minutes and see if both motors sound like they are coming on.  IF yes then good.  Make sure your condensor coils on the bottom back side are clean and the fan blade is moving well.   The coils on bottom or back side get very dirty and need to be brushed and cleaned out periodically.  Next put your hand on top of the compressor and make sure it is working.   Compressors run "normally" warm to very warm.   If hot then that could indicate a problem with the switches on the side of the compressor.  Next open and close the refrigerator door.  Is it sealing, do you hear/feel the vacuum sound as open and close.   Next, you have a control board on the back side by the compressor also that could be the cause of this problem.  Last but not least there is an air diffuser that could be the problem.   Sorry for all the ideas but places to start and look.  Good luck.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears
