Question and Answers

Kichenaide washer agititator issue kaws850le2

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your agitator is not working properly in your washer. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist you.

I recommend verifying that the agitator is moving back and forth.  Check if the upper part of the agitator is moving if not then you will need to replace the agitator dogs and cam.

Usually when the agitator dogs are good, but the motor coupler could be bad causing the sound while agitating. I would recommend checking the coupler.

No agitation: Remove the agitator and observe the gearcase shaft. If the motor is running, the shaft is not ocsillating, and the motor coupler is good; replace the gearcase. If the shaft is oscillating, inspect the agitator splins and dogs for wear. Turn the motor coupler counterclockwise. If there is roughness then you have a bad gear case.

If all of the parts check out I would check the gear case.

You would need to disassemble the unit to determine which part is making the noise.
