I understand wanting to replace the microwave handle yourself. I see Joseph provided you with some excellent safety information. Replacing the handle may seem like a simple repair. However, for your safety, I do not recommend doing this repair yourself.

This type of repair will need to be completed by a service technician since it will involves the disassembly of the door (a major shielding component in the microwave). Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing a door handle, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future. Thank you for using
