Question and Answers

Q:

My dishwasher is leaking water. What is this usually caused by ?

A:

That link for a previous answer that James R. provided does list some usual causes for leaks. If the leak is constant, I recommend that you check the water supply line. Try shutting the water supply off and see if the leak stops. If it does, that supply line is the likely cause.

If the dishwasher only leaks when it is running, then a hole in the tub or a failed seal is the probable cause. You may be able to find the location of the leak by shutting off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher and removing the bottom front service panel. Manually fill the tub with water and see if you can find the source of the leak using a flashlight to view the underside of the dishwasher tub.

If you find the cause of the leak and need help with repairing it, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
