Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my Featherlite LP20 weedeater stay running?

A:

I recommend checking the fuel lines for any cracks. If the fuel line has any cracks it will cause it to starve for fuel. If the fuel lines are OK, the carburetor will need to be rebuilt. The diaphragm inside the carburetor is likely bad causing your Weedeater to not stay running. There is likely a carburetor rebuilt kit available.

Q:

I have a weedeater featherlite leaf blower that won't run.

A:

Thank you for your question on the Weed-eater leaf blower not starting.

You have done many of the required steps to get the blower running.

A clogged muffler spark arrester screen could be the problem but usually the blower will start but not rev up if the muffler is plugged.

I would suggest putting a half of teaspoon of gas down the throat of the carburetor and then try starting it.

If it fires or starts and then dies it is most likely a problem with in the carburetor. If it does not start then I would suggest changing the spark plug if you have not already done so.

Please let know what you find and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information. Sam A.

Q:

Why does the head of my weed eater not spin?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. I have looked up the model number you have submitted. A few things that can cause the problem you are having. The first is the flex shaft. The flex shaft goes from the engine to the cutter head. To check the shaft you will need to separate the engine from the shaft. Then pull the flex shaft out of the outer shaft. The shaft should have a square on each end. If the shaft looks ok, the problem is going to be the cutter end or the shaft coupler on the engine. The coupler should have a square hole the shaft fits into. If the coupler looks ok you will need to replace the gearbox. Once you have pin pointed the problem you can order the part from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .
