Q:

My Weedeater Blower Model #'s FB25 Starter Rope Won't Retracted.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the blower. I have looked up the model number you have submitted. If the pull rope will retract at all, the spring is still working. You can spray WD-40 into the starter to lube the recoil spring. Once you have sprayed the starter pull the rope a few times. If it will not recoil, I recommend replacing the whole recoil assembly. The reason I recommend replacing the complete recoil is because it can be dangerous to wind the spring and the cost of the assembly is roughly $10.00. The part number for the recoil is 545196201 and can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

The image below is a break down of the parts. i have put an arrow where to start taking it apart to access the starter.

I hope this is helpful.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the blower.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.

I am sorry the part did not come assembled. According to the parts list it should have been pre assembled. I should be able to assist you in restringing the starter. I have found a video that shows how to rewind the starter. The video shows a chain saw starter but the steps are the same. Please click on the link below. I hope this is helpful.

Q:

What type oil is used in a Craftsman rear tine tiller engine and gear box? There are 2 oil plugs.

A:

Both oil plugs are for the engine. Engines that are used in tillers are used for a number of applications. The oil plugs are placed in more than one place on the engine so if one plug is not accessible the other will be.

The engine uses 30 weight motor oil. The transmission on your tiller doesn't have oil in it. It has axle grease and never needs changing.

Q:

Whirpool Dryer(Model#LER7646EQ2; Type #178-00) is taking multiple cycles(2 or more) to dry clothes on the HIGH (Cotton) settings.

A:

Based on your symptom if the dryer is taking 2 or more cycles to dry the clothes usually indicates a restriction in the vent system. The dryer could also have a bad door seal, drum seal or the lint filter screen could be covered in a clear film of fabric softener residue too. Take the lint filter out and wash it with a soft bristle brush and warm soapy water. If the door seal and the front and rear drum seals are okay then the venting system is likely at fault. In order to know if the venting system is at fault, disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and dry one load of clothes. The exhaust temperature should average 150 degrees when set on High heat. If the clothes dry in a normal amount of time then the venting system will need to be checked for any kinks, restrictions or blockages. If the clothes still takes 2 or more cycles to dry then the heating element will need to be removed and checked for any breaks in the element where it will likely be touching and welded to the housing.
