Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Thank you for adding the model number to the thread. Base on your model washer it uses an electromechanical mode shifter which may have failed if the motor is running during agitation. If the motor is not running then it could have a motor or electronic control board failure.

There is really nothing you can try to fix yourself. I strongly suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your GE washer.
