Question and Answers

Why is my Whirlpool refrigerator model ED5GTQXKQ00 leaking water out of the bottom of the door?

It is very likely that the defrost drain hole is restricted and frozen over. This would cause the symptom that you described. Located behind the lower portion of the rear panel in the freezer is a defrost drain trough and a drain hole. The water will overflow the little drain trough when the unit goes into the automatic defrost cycle if it the drain hole is clogged. The water will run down onto the freezer floor and collect and freeze over. Some water may leak out the front of the freezer and down onto the floor. Check for a bad door seal on the freezer door and fresh food door. If the doors are not making a good seal the moisture in the air will condense and drip water below the freezer door.

I recommend checking for a blockage in the defrost drain pan behind the lower rear panel in the freezer. Remove the 4 screws securing the lower freezer panel and thaw and clean out the drain hole. Pour some hot water in the hole and confirm that it drains out and into the defrost drain pan under the refrigerator.
