Question and Answers

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator-bad water taste

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model ED22PQXDW02; sorry you are having a problem with the water taste, I will be glad to assist you. First you must determine if the bad tasting water is before or after it enters your refrigerator.  To do this you will need to disconnect the water supply line to the refrigerator and sample the water supply. If you have a copper water line supplying water to the refrigerator, that would normally not be the source. Once the water reaches the refrigerator all the valves and lines and tank are plastic and any of these could be causing the bad taste.  Finding the source is a process of elimination and you must start at the water inlet valve where the supply connects disconnecting each section and testing for the taste and odor. The water line feed from the inlet valve to the tank inside (located behind the crispers) the fresh food compartment. Water leaves the tank goes back out the refrigerator, under the unit and up into the door to the dispenser. _Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and be cautious of any sharp metals while accessing components_I would look very closely for tubing that is routed close to the condenser coil and compressor where it is subjected to heat, often over heated line will create bad taste and odor. The other option would be to replace all water lines and the tank inside and outside of the refrigerator. I hope this helps, if you need a technician here is a link to Sears Home Services.
