Question and Answers

Why is my GE gas dryer not heating?

From what you described it sounds like a wire shorted out somewhere in the dryer. I recommend removing the front panel & inspecting the wiring harness. Use a putty knife to release the clips between the top & front panels, the clips should be about 4-5 inches from the edges. Lift the top up so you can access the screws. Loosen the lower front panel screws facing out & remove the upper front panel screws facing in. Lift the front panel up slightly & off. You will now be able to inspect some of the electrical components & wiring harness. If you do not see the problem you will need to use a meter to check the harness with. Be sure to unplug the power before attempting repairs.
