Question and Answers

Q:

If I use the HDMI cable do I use the red, white, and yellow cables from the DVR to the TV?

A:

It is not necessary for the composite (yellow video, red and white audio) cables to be connected since HDMI sends both the video and the audio digitally. Make sure that the TV input is set to the HDMI input and not the composite cables you have connected.

Q:

I have a Motorola DCT 3416 DVR cable box--I can't find a solution to change the Daylight Savings Time

A:

If you unplug the box from the AC for a minute then plug it in it should reboot. If it does not call your cable company and let them know your clock is not working properly. They should walk you through a reset of the box. There is not a clock setting in the box itself. There can also be additional features depending on the firmware but I doubt it would add that feature.

If you do get it to reboot by unplugging it, it could take a long while before all the information in the guide is downloaded again.

Q:

Panasonic Vista flat screen will not turn on. Did this last week and reseated cable and it worked. But did it again and now will not work.

A:

Sometimes a component in a circuit can be intermittent. It may react differently to heat or have a cold solder connection that needs to be just right to operate. The power button on the front should blink when you attempt to turn it on and it shuts down. If it is not blinking at all then it might be a power cord issue because the TV is acting like it is not connected to an outlet.

I recommend you get that error code and you call Panasonic or a home service provider like Sears . This is important because who's to say your TV won't start working tomorrow and not break down again for another month. These intermittent problems are the toughest to diagnose.
