Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my oven heat above 225 degrees and I've already replaced the element?

A:

In order for the bake operation to heat correctly, the bake and broil elements alternate operation. When the bake element is off, the broil element should be on and and when broil element is on, the bake element is off. So, in order for oven to heat properlly the broil element must also come on during bake. Place the oven in broil to see if the broil element is working. Based on your symptom the broil element may be bad or the control. NOTE: I do not recommend checking voltages unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.

The relay sequence cycling is set so that only one heating unit at a time can be turned on. The control cycles between the Bake and Broil units during all modes of operation except Broil (Broil unit only).

During the Clean Mode the Broil unit only is on until oven reaches 750°F. Control then alternates between bake and broil units throughout balance of clean cycle. The last 40 minutes of clean time is for cool down (no heating units will be on). NOTE: Check bake & broil unit voltage when the control is calling for heat. Allow enough time for control to switch between heating units (could be up to 2 mins).

Q:

Kenmore Gas 362-7361191 not baking correctly

A:

That link for a previous answer describes the likely failures that would cause this oven heating problem in your range. Based on your description, you likely have a weak glow bar igniter (part WB2X9154). I provided a theory of operation for that ignition system on your range in the image below. If that igniter is glowing but the gas burner is not igniting consistently as you seem to be describing, then you can likely fix this problem by replacing that igniter. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Here is a direct link for that part: Igniter . Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing that igniter.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I will need the model number off the charger to get you the correct wiring diagram with the specific colored wires you are referring too.

The model number should start with 141-XXX.

I hope this will help. Sam A.
