My General Electric dryer is making that awful loud squeal/screeching noise?


To determine the cause of that noise, I recommend that you unplug the dryer and lift the top panel as shown in the top of the image provided below. You can then manually spin the drum and inspect the components to determine the part that needs to be replaced. I suspect that you will need to replace that top bearing at the front of the dryer. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

I provided additional access information for that dryer in the image below. Your dryer may not look exactly the same as the one shown in that image but the basic access information should be the same.
