Q:

How do I get a new s/c 3 function r/c to match up to an existing s/c on my 1/2 hp garage door opener when the instructions do not work?

A:

Although you provided the part number of the remote, you did not provide the model number for the garage door opener. According to the part number, the remote appears to have dip switches. I recommend that you cycle the dip switches on all of the current remotes and the motor unit of the garage door opener. If the dip switches are in the same position for a long period of time, they sometimes stop making good contact. Cycling all of the dip switches can sometimes resolve this problem. Make sure that all of the dip switches in all of the remotes match the code in the garage door opener motor unit. If the remotes still do not work after following these tips, then I recommend that you have the garage door opener serviced or replace it.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your garage door opener.

Kenmore sidebyside 596.50013100 purchased HV board for repair - Sears Parts Direct. display read S A 5 after install / this am display seemed ok - now S A 1 ??

A:

I looked at the technical information for this refrigerator. It does not appear that the control boards need to be programmed after a control board replacement on this model. I looked at error codes but I do not see an error code that matches S A 1 or S A 5. I recommend that you have a service technician physically examine the control boards and repair this failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

There is a possibility that a code needs to be entered to program the control boards after replacing them. That code should be listed under the serial number on the sticker inside the refrigerator on the upper right wall. If you see a code such as 0202 then this indicates that you will likely need to go through a routine on the dispenser display to set that code. Reply with the full model number of your refrigerator and that code if you find one there. We will try to assist you further once we receive more information.

Hello Margaret. The main control board in that model is part number 12639501. That control board will substitute to the new part number 12002330. That type of control board does not appear to need any programming when it is replaced. You can access that control board by UNPLUGGING the refrigerator and removing the lower back access panel that covers the machine compartment. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

I am not sure how that situation was resolved. That person did not post any final resolution. Try setting the refrigerator and freezer temperatures and then press Confirm Settings. Let me know what happens.

I think that you already checked the model/serial number tag for a code on that unit. You can check that label again to make sure that it does not need a programming code. I will try to contact a source at the manufacturer to see if we can get this resolved. I should be able to respond by tomorrow.

Thanks for posting that image. I contacted the manufacturer. You should have used a kit for that high voltage control board that is part 12002330. That kit includes the low voltage display control board. That low voltage control board includes the digital display. If you do not replace that low voltage control board at the same time that you replace that high voltage control board, then you will likely have a compatibility issue that would result in the display problem that you are describing. Let me know if you already replaced that low voltage control board at the same time. If not, then replacing that low voltage control board may fix this problem.

Hello Margaret. Thanks for the additional information. There is a possibility that you may still have a control board version mis-match. You may need to install control boards that are compatible in order for the display to work properly.

Q:

Craftsman/B&S Gas Push Mower (917.385125) - Suddenly running at 1/4 speed.

A:

Thank you for your question on the low engine speed for the mower.

From the parts list for this model I do not see a throttle cable going to the handle. I do see an operator presence bail and cable that will have a flywheel break and a kill switch that this cable will operate.

It sounds like from your description that the governor link on the throttle body is stuck on the idle position.

I would suggest removing the air cleaner and threading the air cleaner screw back into the carburetor and then starting the engine to see if that will improve the engine speed.

If it does not then I would suggest looking at the throttle linkage to goes to the throttle plate lever. There should be a link arm rod that comes from the side of the engine for the governor to the throttle lever on the carburetor. Manually move the linkage to see if when you turn the throttle lever on the carburetor it will move back to the idle position. The governor arm opens the throttle plate as you need more power when mowing. If this is not happening then the linkage may be bound up and will need to be freed up. Sometimes the linkage will get tangled up in the return spring.

Please let me know what you see about the throttle/governor linkage after you take the air cleaner off.

Sam A.

Thank you Mike for your question on the mowing running slow. All of these mowers have a governor that controls the power needed to cut grass and also there is some throttle linkage on the top of the carburetor that can get tangled up and not throttle up the engine. Please remove the air cleaner and inspect the linkage to make sure it is all moving freely. Please let me know what you find. Sam A.
