A:

To remove and replace the fan switch:

  1. Disconnect the power supply to the cook top by flipping both house circuit breakers off dedicated for the cook top.

Q:

Replacement blower motor is noisy

A:

That motor will not need any lubrication before being installed. I recommend that you check all of the fasteners on the motor, the blower housing and the plenum. You may have a loose fastener (normally a screw) that is causing this vibration and noise that you are describing. Once you find the loose fastener and tighten it, your problem should be resolved.

There is a possibility that you could have a bad motor even though it is brand new. You may need to unplug the cooktop or shut off the breaker and remove the motor. Run it briefly outside of the cooktop to see if it makes noise when not installed. If it makes noise during that test, then I recommend that you exchange it for a new motor.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
