Question and Answers

Q:

Stovetop burner spark module

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The spark module as you know now was not the problem. Sitting on top of each burner valve is a switch that should sit stationary over the valve. The stem of the burner valve comes up through the spark switch. When the knob is turned to the lite position, the switch closes and completes the line voltage to the spark module. This causes all the electrodes to begin sparking until the knob is turned from the lite position.

One of the spark switches on one of the burner valves has likely rotated (not stationary) or the contact switch is stuck closed.

I added an image below with the procedure of accessing and testing the spark switches. NOTE: Disconnect the range from the power source before removing the control panel.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
