Question and Answers

The oven on my Amana AGR5835QDQ gas range does not heat up to the set temp. What is wrong?

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Without additional details I must assume the bake burner is not coming on at all. In order for the bake burner to ignite and reach the set temperature the bake igniter must glow bright red and it must pull enough current/amperage to cause the gas valve to open. If the bake igniter is glowing red and the bake burner is not igniting, replace the bake igniter.

If the bake igniter is not glowing red, it could have one of the following failures:

  • Broken bake igniter
  • Faulty oven control board
  • Faulty gas valve
  • Faulty oven temperature sensor.

If the bake burner is igniting and the temperature is not reaching the set temperature then it could be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor or a weak bake igniter. The oven temperature sensor can be removed and disconnected and tested with an ohm meter. The oven temperature sensor should measure approximately 1100 ohms at room temperature.
