Question and Answers

Q:

Why is the dryer in my Kenmore stackable washer/dryer making a very loud squeaking noise when the dryer starts?

A:

This squeaking noise could be coming from the idler pulley on your motor or from the ball hitch bearing on the back of the dryer drum. This link of a previous answer will provide some access and troubleshooting information for this type of problem in your laundry center: What do I replace, the bearing or belt, when the dryer on my Kenmore laundry model 417.90868990 is squealing? . Be sure that you unplug the laundry center before accessing internal components.

The model number 9803 and the other number (131764100) did not match up with the Kenmore laundry centers (washer/dryer combos) than are listed in our system. I recommend that you check around the opening of the washer and dryer doors for a model number. This answer is based on a Kenmore laundry center that begins with 417. . . If you have a different type of laundry center, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your appliance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
