Question and Answers

Q:

I have a tractor model no. 917.275810. The float bowl and needle assembly have come off. How do u reinstall?

A:

You will normally need the carburetor overhaul kit to properly reassemble the carburetor. There are no instructions that normally come with the overhaul kit or the parts. A mechanic or technician will normally pay close attention to how parts on the carburetor are assembled as a reference for reassembly. If you have never pulled apart a carburetor and overhauled it, I recommend that you have a service technician perform this task. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you are going to try and reassemble the carburetor yourself, here are some general tips:

Remove the screws holding the carburetor to the fuel tank and engine. Remove the carburetor from the fuel tank and engine. Take pictures of the carburetor linkage or make notes for assembly.

Lay out the parts in the overhaul kit and locate and replace the parts in the carburetor with the parts from the kit.

The new parts will go on just as the old ones come off.

NOTE: The overhaul kit includes part 137. The part 975 should include everything in the box (bowl and parts 137, 276 and 1127). You may be ordering duplicate parts.
