Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Electric Range , model 970

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

One of the surface element control switches is faulty. On each of one of the surface element control switches is a terminal with a wire connected labeled (P). When the switch is turned on, the terminal (P) will supply voltage to the "Element ON" indicator light. You can narrow down which switch is faulty by turning the power supply off to the range and then accessing the burner switches and pull the wire connected to terminal (P) off. Position the wire so it does not touch any other terminals or ground and then re-apply power. If the "Element ON" light does not come on; replace that switch. If it comes back on; disconnect the power supply off and re-install the wire and then take the wire off the next switch from terminal (P) and continue the steps until you find the faulty switch.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post along with the complete model number.

Q:

Husqvarna mower Rider 970 does not go forward

A:

Thank you for your question on the Husqvarna riding mower forward motion pedal not working.

If you look under the seat of the rider you should see two model numbers on the model serial tag. One should start with an YTHXXXXXX (it should have the horse power and the deck width in the number) and the other one should start with a 960XXXXXXX.

Please look for these number and reply and I will be happy to help you.

Thank you for the update on the riding mower. This is a cool little rider with both the front and back wheels the same size. I found a sight that shows the parts breakdown and it has a cable on the left and one on the right. The left cable as you sit on the tractor is 506 82 72 -01 and the right cable is 506 96 02-01. If the left cable is the forward cable then you are correct. I have added a link below to parts source for this tractor. I hope this will help. Sam A.

Q:

My Proform 970 Crosstrainer resistance changes on its own. Sometimes the bike pedals "lock up". Why?

A:

The symptom you have is usually caused by a wire in the wire harness, between the console and the resistance motor/potentiometer, grounding to the frame.

There is also a calibration procedure that might correct this issue if the console is getting confused.

I am sending you an image of the calibration procedure for the console.

To test for a wire shorted in the wire harness disconnect both ends of the harness and ohm each wire to ground and to each other wire. This can be difficult to do with an infrequent problem.

I would probably do the calibration procedure and if the problem occurs again, replace the wire harness.

The part number for the wire harness that goes through the frame to the console is 176716, and the cost is around $45.00.
