Question and Answers

Q:

oven over-cooking baked goods

A:

Based on those model numbers that you provided, this range appears to have a hidden bake element. This range may be different than your previous one. An oven with a hidden bake element will normally take longer to preheat. I recommend that you give the oven at least a half hour to preheat and equalize the temperature so that the bake element is not staying on for a long time and burning the bottom of your food. Those links for previous answers Priscilla V. posted in the above response provide some additional tips to resolve this problem. Check the bottom of your baking pans for dark residue that can cause burning. Continue to adjust the temperature and rack positions to see if you can find an appropriate combination to bake your items properly. If you suspect that the oven is overheating or that you have a component problem, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair the range, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
