Q:

Help removing the connecting rod from the crank craftsman 1hp 4 gal 125 psi 921166370 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the air compressor. To remove the connecting rod you may need a two-jaw puller. First, remove the head and cylinder. Then hook the jaws on the backside of the connecting rod and position the threaded part of the puller in the center of the crankshaft. While holding the jaws in position, tighten the bolt on the puller to pull the connecting rod off the shaft. Once it is removed, you can loosen the bolt in the crankshaft and remove it from the end of the motor shaft. After you get the unit apart, you can order the piston kit. The part number for the kit is E100251 and can be ordered from the following link. Piston kit for Craftsman air compressor model 921166370.   The kit comes with the piston, rings, connecting rod, and crankshaft. After you install the new parts be sure to add the recommend oil to the crankcase.

I hope this is helpful.  Please let me know if you need further assistance.   Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.
