Q:

rebuild kit for air compressor mod #919167783

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting your air compressor to work and peak performance.

  • I would advise that you replace both the Lo and Hi repair kit.

Since this is a two stage air compressor I would replace both sets of hi and lo pressure.

You are going to have the pump apart for one and so why not do a complete rebuild.

Part numbers for the kits are;A02743 and D24958 and you can order them from;Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this will help with your air compressor repair.

Q:

air compressor model 919167783 pumps up very, very slowly.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the air compressor. If the unit is not building pressure like it should, I suspect something is worn inside the pump. Seeing as you have the pump apart, I recommend putting your hand over the top of the cylinder. You need to seal your hand over the cylinder. Once sealed, turn the motor shaft so the piston moves up and down. When the piston moves down you should feel suction. When the piston moves up the air should push past or hand and cylinder. If it does not do this, I recommend replacing the piston, rings, and cylinder. You can get these parts by ordering kit number A02743. You will need two kits. If you feel the suction and pressure, I recommend looking at the valve plate. If the reeds are bent the pump will not built pressure fast.

The parts can be ordered from the following link. Craftsman parts

Mark,

I am glad to hear you have the compressor up and running again. Overtime the rings on the pistons wear out and do not seal as well. When this happens it is time to rebuild the pump. I hope you get another 6 years out of the compressor.

Q:

Craftsman 919.167783 Won't build pressure above 30psi 919167783 Craftsman Air compressor

A:

Since the tank gets pressurized to 30 PSI and you don't detect any tank leaks or valve leaks, it's very likely that you still have a problem with the pump. You indicated that you installed the kits for both pistons. When rebuilding the pump, you should have used the Ring Kit part K-0648. You may also need to replace the Valve Plate (part Z-AC-0032) if you did already replace that part. Make sure that all o-rings and gaskets were installed properly and that the fasteners were all torqued to the specifications listed in your owner's manual (the parts list diagram also lists torque specifications).

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, let us know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.
