Q:

Craftsman Air compressor # 919167780

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know why the air compressor has a high target pressure before it turns off.

This model is a two stage air compressor and it should actually shut off at 175 PSI.

You should be able to adjust the pressure regular on the outlet side of the manifold to the working pressure you want.

There are two gauges on the air compressor. One is for the actual tank pressure and the other is for reading the outlet pressure when you adjust the regulator knob to the working pressure you want.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Where is the reset switch?

A:

The only reset switch on the compressor is a thermal overload inside the motor. It will open if the motor overheats or draws excessive amperage. When the motor cools, the overload will close.

Q:

I replaced the contact switch on a Craftsman air compressor. The directions to wire on/off switch are different.

A:

Don't be concerned with the position of the terminals. Be sure the 2 wires from the power cord are connected to the terminals marked line, and the 2 terminals from the compressor motor go to the terminal marked motor.
