Q:

How do you remove and replace muffler on craftman air compresor 919165200

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the air compressor. To replace the muffler, start by unplugging the unit from the wall. Then remove the plastic covers around the motor and pump. Once they are removed, the next step is to remove the 4 screws in the pump head. Now the head will come up so you can take the old muffler out. Now install the muffler in the reverse order. Make sure you use new o-rings whenever you remove the four screws securing the head. The head bolts should be torqued to 7-10 foot pounds.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please reply below with more details.

Q:

tube blowing off compressor check valve?

A:

Thank you for your question on the air compressor air line blowing off the check valve.

These should have compression fittings that hold both the outlet tube and the relief tube to the check valve.

All you may have to do is pick up some new compression fitting locally and if you can re-cut the tubing with out it being to short, and you may be able to repair it with out having to order parts.

Some of the original compression sleeves where rubber but you can replace them with brass compression fittings.

Unless the check valve is cracked I do not think you will need to replace it.

Please let me know what you find out about the fittings and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information if needed.
