Thank you for sending the pictures. The primer on this model is located in the plastic air filter base. The easiest way to replace the primer on this model is to remove the air filter base. I found a video that shows how to remove the base. Click on this link below to watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0KshOeJWYw . Once the base is removed look for the tabs that have to be pushed to release the retaining ring. The picture I attached has the tabs marked. Once you have the tabs pushed, push the ring out of the base. Then pull the bulb out. Install the new primmer in the reverse order.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Barbara,

I suspect the sipping on the part will be more than the cost of the part. If you need the gasket right away, you might want to see if your local hardware store or mower service center has it in stock. I would not worry too much about the gasket yet. I have removed tons of these bases and did not need to replace the gasket.

Q:

Hard to start Craftman Wheeled Weedtrimmer Model 917773741

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. Usually when the engine is hard to start, it is because the main jet in the carburetor is plugged. To repair this you have to clean or replace the carburetor. If you would like to clean the carburetor yourself click here to watch a video to show you how. As long as the fuel tank is empty, you do not have to remove the fuel tank.

Make sure to work in a well-ventilated area and use caution when working with gasoline.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .
