Question and Answers

Q:

BLADE ADAPTER REMOVAL

A:

Thank you for your question.

If the blade adapter is broken, the blade will come loose repeatedly. I should be able to help you with removing the blade adapter. To remove the blade adapter the gas should be drained or ran out of the tank so the lawnmower can be placed on the side. Lay the mower so the carburetor and air cleaner are up.

Block the blade with a piece of wood and remove the blade bolt and blade. The blade adapter should pull off the engine shaft unless it is rusted to the engine shaft.

Try spraying rust buster between the engine shaft and the blade adapter and tapping the blade adapter with a hammer to help the rust buster penetrate. Tap on the backside of the blade adapter to tap it off the engine shaft.

If this procedure doesn’t work, put the blade bolt back into the engine shaft and tighten it until the head is about ½ inch from the blade adapter. Use a gear puller to pull the blade adapter off the shaft.

With the blade adapter off the debris shield will slide off the engine shaft.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on repairing the mower.
