Replace lawnmover muffler

Thank you for your question.

I have looked up the model number you have submitted. The muffler on your mower threads into the engine block. If you need to replace the muffler, I can help. First, wait for the engine to cool then try to turn the muffler by hand counterclockwise. If you cannot get the muffler to turn, you will need a pair of pliers large enough to grip the outside of the muffler. A strap wrench should work also. Please click here to view the strap wrenches we offer. once you have the pliers or the strap wrench turn the muffler counter clockwise. once it is removed there is not any special preparation when installing the new muffler. just thread it in and tighten it.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the mower.

Why does this mower surge? It is a relatively new mower is second season and only used as a trim mower. I have replaced the spark plug because it was black.

Even though you have used stabilizer in the fuel, your symptoms of surging and loss of power seem to point to a fuel issue. I recommend that you try replacing the fuel with fresh gas and see if the mower will work properly.

If you are still having problems and the mower is less than 2 years old, you may need to have it serviced by a technician under warranty. Refer to your manual for specific information on the warranty.
