Issue after changing oil in lawnmower 917383224

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I suspect that when you overfilled the mower with oil, the excess oil may have pushed into the cylinder or other cavities as it had nowhere else to go, and the engine is just burning off those trace elements of oil. A mower engine will typically take about 3/4 of a quart of oil, give or take. However, I would only fill it a little at a time and check the dipstick until you get to the correct 'Full' hash mark on the dipstick.

The oil would not be an issue, as SAE 30 is what it would take. The Super S Heavy Duty would not impact the grade. Just make sure the oil is at the correct level and the smoking should disappear.

I hope this helps and thanks for using We appreciate your business.

Thank you for contacting Manage My Life Richard. I am so sorry to hear that the mower engine is leaking fuel. I know it can be frustrating when you are ready to mow the lawn and the lawn mower isn't.  I have located the engine made for your model. It has it's own model number of 143.424012. You will also want to check the gasket between the carburetor and the air filter. I have included the parts diagrams for your engine to help you see where the parts are located.

On the replacement parts page I recommend checking key numbers:

184 - carburetor gasket for model 143.424012.
239 - air cleaner gasket for model 143.424012
241 - the air cleaner collar

On the carburetor page I recommend you check:

28 - float
29 - float bowl o-ring
35 - primber bulb/retaining ring, and
44 - bowl nut washer

I have also included the link for a replacement carburetor. Sometimes it is more convenient to replace the carburetor as opposed to breaking it down and reassembiling it.

Since you didn't mention if you had completed the engine tune-up for this mowing season, I have included the link for the tune up kit also.

If I can be of any further assistance, please respond to this thread. Thank you for choosing Manage My Life, we appreciate your business Richard.
