Question and Answers

Gas leaking out of carburetor air cleaner cover 917.379200

Thank you for your inquiry on your Craftsman Lawn Mower, Model: 917.379200. From reviewing the details on your model, your float is stuck in the carb. Try tapping on the side of it to break it loose, not too hard though. If that doesn't work then you will need to take the bowl off the bottom and move the float up and down, probably trash in it. You may need to take it all the way off and clean the needle and seat which is on top of the bowl.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the lawn mower to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting, and have yourself a wonderful day.

With the blade removed the blade adapter and debris shield should also come off. It may be debris is preventing it from coming off the shaft.

The blade adapter is keyed once the belt is removed the adapter should remove also. The image below may help you with this project.
