Question and Answers

Q:

change drive belt

A:

Your mower has a blade clutch that needs to be removed to access the drive belt. I have provided you with an image below showing the parts of your mower. In the first image, I have put a red box around the parts that need to be removed to access the belt. The second image is the how the belt should be routed. I have listed the step for replacing the belt below.

  1. Remove the belt cover behind the engine. Key number 25 in the second image.
  2. Remove the bolts that hold the blade. Make sure to wear gloves to protect your hands.
  3. Remove the clutch, which is key number 69 in image.
  4. Remove the bolt that holds the belt cover in place. It is key number 71 in the image.
  5. You should be able to see the belt at this point. Remove the belt paying close attention of the routing.
  6. Reinstall the belt making sure to route it correctly.
  7. Reassemble the mower in the reverse order.

These steps sound like the belt change is an easy repair but it can be difficult. Only attempt to change the belt if you feel comfortable. If you do not feel comfortable replacing the belt please use the link provided below.
