I am sorry you are having a problem with removing the starter. I looked up the model number you submitted. If I remember right, on this model you just have to remove the top cover of the engine. Then you should have access to the 1/4 inch screws around the recoil assembly. Once those screws are removed, the recoil should come off. If your model does not have the 1/4 inch screws securing the recoil you will need to remove the fuel tank. To remove the tank the top engine cover has to be removed. Then remove the 5/16 screw that secure the fuel tank. After the screws are removed, you pull the tank up. This can be difficult to do. Try to pull up and back on the tank. Once the tank is removed, you can remove the other two screws securing the housing to the engine. If you are just replacing the rope, I found a video that might help. Click here to watch the video.
