Question and Answers

Q:

How to change oil in a Craftsman mower Model #917376542

A:

Thank you for your question.

I have posted the instructions for changing the oil below. I recommend letting the engine run for a few minutes before draining the oil. This will suspend the contaminants and warms the oil so it will drain faster. Once the oil is drained tip the mower back up right and refill with SAE 30 motor oil. Make sure you do not over fill the engine with oil. I like to add 15 ounces and then start checking the level and add until full.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with the mower. Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

How to adjust drive control on lawnmower

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the front wheels are not engaging, the drive belt may have come off the gearbox pulley or the pulley under the deck.

I recommend checking the drive belt and confirm the belt has not come off the gear box pulley or the pulley located under the deck and above the blade.

Remove the front belt cover (see page 8) and confirm the belt is on the pulley as well as the pulley under the deck. I added a link to the Owner's Manual if needed that shows how to access the gear box pulley and on page 8 it shows how to adjust the turnbuckle.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
