Q:

starting the thing!! 917374541 Craftsman Mower

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. The engine on your mower has an automatic choke. When the engine is cold the choke plate is closed. Once the engine starts, the fan on the flywheel blows on the choke vane and the choke plate opens. The engine has a thermostat that heats up from the heat generated by the engine. When it gets hot, it moves a lever over to hold the choke plate open. This prevents the engine from flooding if you turn it off the empty the bag or take a short break. If the engine will not start, I recommend removing the air filter first. Then look into the throat of the carburetor. The choke should be closed. If it is, the choke is working. Next thing to check would be the fuel in the tank. If the fuel is over five weeks old, the tank should be drained and refilled with fresh fuel. If the fuel in the tank is fine, I recommend pouring a thimble full of fuel into the throat of the carburetor. Then try to start the engine. If the engine starts I suspect there is a problem in the carburetor. Usually cleaning the carburetor will cure this problem. I found a great video that shows how to clean the carburetor. Click here to watch the video. If you decide to clean the carburetor, be sure to work in a well ventilated area. After you clean the carburetor, check the operation.

A:

Thank you for your question on the instructions for the drive control assembly on the mower handle.

I believe that this model number is for a walk behind lawn mower.

I believe you are referring the EZ-walk drive control handle assembly.

I will send you some pictures to help you with the assembly of this control box.

If this is not what you were referring to please let me know.
