A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. If the fuel cap on the mower is leaking, I recommend making sure it is tight first. If it is tight and still leaks, I recommend replacing the fuel cap. The part number for the fuel cap is 591003 and can be ordered from the following link.Replacement fuel cap for a Craftsman mower model number 917370410.

If the mower is less than two years old, I recommend taking the unit to one of our drop off locations. The reason being the mower has a two-year manufacturer warranty. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services

Q:

Bolt Size 917370410 Craftsman Mower

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the mower. I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. To remove the blade bolt on this mower you will need a 9/16 wrench. Once you have the wrench, disconnect the spark plug wire. Then tip the mower so the air filter is up. With a gloved hand, hold the blade while you use the wrench to turn the bolt counter clockwise. If you need to replace the bolt, it is part number 851084 and can be ordered from the following link. Replacement blade bolt for a Craftsman mower model 917370410.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

New lawn mower will not start.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the new mower. I will be happy to assist you. First question is which way did you tip the mower. If the mower was tipped with the air filter down, the oil could have leaked into the air filter. If this happens, the engine will not get any air. I recommend removing the air filter and see if it is soaked with oil. If it is clean the area and install a new filter. Then check the oil level. If the level is fine, try to start the engine. If it does start, it might smoke for a few minutes. This is normal it is just burning the oil that got into the intake area.

If you tipped, the mower with the air filter up it could flood the engine a little. Just let the engine sit for a few hours and try to start it. It should start right up. If it doesn’t I recommend taking the mower to one of our drop off locations. They will be able to repair the mower.
