Question and Answers

Q:

tiller kicking out of gear

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It may not be shifting completely in gear or locking in gear. The problem will be in either the shifter or the transmission. I recommend moving the shift while watching the shifter shaft that passes through the transaxle. If the shaft moves while moving the shifter, the problem is in the transmission. Watch the shift arm to confirm it's shifting all the way into gear. If it appears to moving fully, then I suspect a problem within the transmission and it should be taken in for diagnoses and repair.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician fix this problem, you can take the tiller into your nearest Sears Repair Center or Sears Store. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has information on the nearest repair facilities in your area: Sears Home Services.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
