Model #917294261 Craftsman rear tine, gas tiller

Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my tiller throwing dirt forward?

A:

I see John has answered this question. I would like to add the following information. This tiller has counter rotating tines. This means the tines turn in the opposite direction than the wheels. Because of this, the tiller will throw some dirt out front. It is more noticeable if you are not tilling deep. The front rotating tines will tend to throw dirt out the rear. I do not think you have a problem with the transmission.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

whats the white plastic plug above the yellow oil drain plug on the front of my rear tine tiller

A:

Thank you for your question.

I have looked up the model number you have submitted. The white plastic plug closes the hole where a dipstick would be attached for a different application. When this engine is used on a snow blower, it comes with a dipstick.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the tiller.

Q:

I am looking for model 917 294261 to put the gear box back together and also reassembling the out side parts.

A:

Thank you for your question on the reassembling of the gear box and tiller frame.

I am sorry but there is no published manual for the gear box other than the parts breakdown picture.

I will send you that and will find and send the owner's manual just in case you do not have it.

I hope this will help.
