Q:

TRANSAXLE SEAL

A:

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to answer your questions. The transaxle has 10 oz. of 80w90 gear oil in it. If I remember right this transaxle has to be disassembled to install the new seal. The seal fits inside of a grove in the case halves. To verify this you and see if the old seal is flush with the case halves. If it is, you do not have to disassemble the transaxle. Just pry the old seal out of the case and tap in the new seal. If the seal is recessed, you have to split the case. Before installing the new seal, clean all of the debris off the transaxle. Then split the case and pour out all of the old oil. Next, clean all the old sealant from the case halves. Then install the new seal. Apply a small bead of silicone sealer around the case halves and reassemble the transaxle. To refill the transaxle remove the pug on the top and squeeze in 10 oz. of 80W90 oil.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
