Model #917276810 Craftsman lawn, tractor

Question and Answers

Q:

I'm looking for a part that i dont see on the diagram. Can you tell me the part that connects to 24 or 25for model# 917276810

A:

I'm not sure which parts you are referring to. Key#24 is a nut and key#25 is the brake rod spring on the Ground Drive page and key#24 and key#25 on the Mower Deck page is cap sleeve and the deflector torsion spring. I going to assume your wanting to know how key# 24 and key325 connects on the Ground Drive page. See image below. Key#22 the (Brake Rod)is what key #24 threads onto and the rod also fits through the spring key#25 in the order shown in the image below. Follow the red line I added.

If these are not the parts you are referring to, resubmit your question with the model number and the part numbers of the part in question.

Q:

craftsman 20hp,42" mod 917276810 pulley spline not staying seated on mandrel shaft. tight at blade engagement then shaft seems to slip out of pulley

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. Usually when this happens it is because one of two steps where skipped during the installation. When installing the new pulley you have to make sure the washer between the bearing and the pulley is in place. If it is not in place, the pulley will bind. The second step that is skipped is making sure the large nut is torqued. If the nut is not torqued the pulley will slip. The nut should be torqued to 55-65 foot pounds. I have found a video showing how to replace the pullet. Click here to watch the video.

I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply below with more details.
