Model #917276380 Craftsman lawn, tractor

Question and Answers

Q:

Model 917276380 / how do I purge the tranny 917276380 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank you for your question on the ground motion of the tractor.

Please check the linkage and connects the transmission to the shift lever.

You may find an adjustment on the lever under the fender inside the wheel well.

To purge any air out of the transmission locate it in an area where you have ten feet in front and behind the tractor.

Pull the free wheel lever on the back of the tractor and lock it in the out position.

Get on the tractor and start the engine and push motion lever back and forth the full travel for 5 to 6 times.

Then stop the engine and get off the tractor and push in the free wheel lever as far as it will go.

Then get back on the tractor and start it and try to move forward and backwards 5 to 6 feet at a time and do this for a number of times.

If it does not improve you may have a technician come out to determine if the transmission is low on oil or needs replacing.

Thank you.

Q:

Replacement Clutch 414737 917276380 Craftsman Tractor

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

This is the correct subsititute clutch assembly for your model unless the engine had been replaced with a different diameter crankshaft. I assume the engine model number on your tractor is a Kohler model CV730-0041. If so, then the clutch should fit the crankshaft. If it does not fit, I recommend having a service technician come out or take the tractor and new clutch to a service center.
